Medicare and Insurance Help in Rossford, OH

Rossford residents choose from the Wood County plan list, and Kris Kryder’s Perrysburg office is about 10 minutes away. Rossford’s median age is 40.6, more than four years older than Wood County’s 36.2 (Census ACS 2020 to 2024), so retirement and Medicare questions come up early here. Kris checks your doctors and prescriptions against each plan she represents, at the office or at your home.

Rossford by the numbers: older than the county around it

Rossford is a small city of 6,323 people on the Maumee River in Wood County. Its median age, 40.6, is more than four years above the county’s 36.2. Yet a slightly smaller share of Rossford residents is 65 or older (15.8%, about 1,000 people, against 16.7% countywide). Put together, that points to a large group in their late 40s, 50s and early 60s: the years when people plan retirement, price coverage before 65, and get ready for Medicare.

Incomes are a little lower than the county’s, and the uninsured rate is about the same. For many Rossford households, the choice that matters most is how to keep costs steady across that move from work coverage to Medicare. If money is tight, Extra Help (through Social Security) and the Medicare Savings Programs (through Ohio Medicaid) can lower drug and premium costs; Kris checks whether you may qualify and walks you through the Extra Help and Medicare Savings Programs guide.

Rossford’s health profile, and why plan details matter here

CDC estimates show Rossford adults with slightly higher rates than Wood County adults for each condition below, by 0.3 to 2.5 percentage points. The biggest gaps are in arthritis, high blood pressure and tooth loss: among residents 65 and older, 12.6% have lost all of their teeth, against 10.1% countywide.

These are model-based estimates, so read them as a direction, not a diagnosis. They still point to the plan details worth checking first: the specialists you see, how your maintenance drugs are covered, and what dental coverage a plan really includes (many Medicare Advantage dental benefits have yearly dollar limits). A $0 premium plan can still cost more over a year if your cardiologist is out of network or your drugs sit on a high tier.

2027 Wood County plans rated 4 stars or higher with the lowest out-of-pocket limits

Medicare Advantage plans are approved county by county, so Rossford residents see the Wood County list. For 2027, the CMS files show 57 Medicare Advantage plans in Wood County not counting Special Needs Plans (46 of them with drug coverage, 44 with a $0 Part C premium), plus 26 Special Needs Plans, the same counts as the Wood County guide. The out-of-pocket maximum (MOOP) is the most you pay in a year for covered in-network care; HMO-POS means an HMO that lets you use some out-of-network providers at a higher cost.

With an older-than-average population and slightly more chronic conditions, a lower MOOP can matter more than a $0 premium. These eight plans have the lowest MOOPs among 2027 Wood County plans with drug coverage and a 2027 CMS rating of 4 stars or higher (Special Needs Plans left out). This is a starting list, not a recommendation; Kris checks your doctors and drugs against each one.

Medicare Advantage or a Medicare Supplement in Rossford?

A lot of people think a Medicare Advantage plan is a Medicare Supplement. It isn’t. Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that has a network, a yearly MOOP and usually drug coverage. A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) sits on top of Original Medicare, works with any provider that accepts Medicare, and needs a separate Part D plan.

Medigap premiums are usually higher, but the cost of care is more predictable, and the coverage does not change year to year (although the premium generally goes up). The best time to buy one is your Medigap Open Enrollment Period, the 6 months starting when you are 65 and enrolled in Part B; after that, you may have to answer health questions (there are exceptions to this). If you go with a Medigap plan, add a Part D plan on time: going without creditable drug coverage can add a lifelong penalty (estimate it with the Part D penalty calculator). Kris compares both paths with your own doctors and drugs.

2027 plan changes that reach Rossford

Some Rossford residents are getting letters right now. Several plans sold in Wood County in 2026 are not returning in the same form for 2027, including every MediGold plan. If you are in one of them, read what MediGold members in Wood and Lucas County should do, or the short answer on what a plan-ending letter means.

The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 to December 7, 2026, and anything you choose starts January 1, 2027. The full plan-by-plan list for the county is on the Wood County Medicare guide.

Under 65 in Rossford: Marketplace and life coverage

If you retire before 65 or leave a job with coverage, a Marketplace plan can bridge the gap. Open Enrollment on the federal marketplace for 2027 runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027; enroll by December 15 for a January 1 start. Kris enrolls you on the federal marketplace at no cost and compares ACA plans with your doctors in mind.

She also helps Rossford families with life insurance and small final expense policies, so a funeral bill does not land on the kids.

How Kris works with Rossford clients

Kris has run Kryder Cares since 2017, and the Perrysburg office on W South Boundary Street is about 10 minutes from Rossford. Meet there, by phone or video, or ask Kris to come to your home. Bring your Medicare card, your drug list and the names of your doctors. She checks each one against the plans she represents, explains the trade-offs in plain terms, and fills out the application with you.

In her own words from her original website, she “will answer your questions and clarify the insurance options you have” and “help you avoid common misconceptions and late enrollment penalties.” Her clients’ Google reviews (5.0 stars from 91 reviews when we read them on October 25, 2026) describe that work: checking every doctor and prescription, verifying details with Medicare on the client’s behalf, and coming to the house.
