A $0-premium Medicare Advantage plan has no monthly premium of its own, but you still pay your Medicare Part B premium, plus copays or coinsurance, a drug deductible of up to $700 in 2027, and up to the plan’s yearly out-of-pocket maximum. For 2027, CMS lists 43 plans with drug coverage and a $0 premium in Wood County and 45 in Lucas County (CMS CY2027 landscape).
This applies to Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage in Wood and Lucas County for 2027. “$0 premium” describes the plan’s own monthly charge, not your total cost for the year.
How it works: what $0 covers and what it leaves out
A Medicare Advantage plan (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with a private plan. “$0 premium” means the plan does not charge a monthly premium on top of what you already pay Medicare. You must still keep paying your Part B premium (the standard premium was $202.90 a month in 2026; CMS had not published the 2027 amount when we pulled this data), and your plan can still charge:
- Copays or coinsurance each time you see a doctor, visit a specialist, use the hospital or fill a prescription.
- A drug deductible, up to $700 in 2027 for plans that have one.
- Up to the out-of-pocket maximum (MOOP), the most the plan lets you pay for covered care in a year, which differs by plan.
| County | Plans in 2027 | Plans with a $0 premium | Average out-of-pocket maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wood County (Perrysburg, Bowling Green, Rossford) | 72 | 43 | $6,975 |
| Lucas County (Toledo, Maumee, Sylvania, Oregon) | 76 | 45 | $6,977 |

What to do next
Bring your doctor list and your prescriptions. Kris adds up your likely yearly cost in each plan, premium, copays, drug deductible and MOOP together, instead of ranking plans by premium alone, and enrolls you by December 7, 2026 for a January 1 start. You can also send your list through the Rx drug lookup form.
