Medicare answer

What happens to my Paramount Elite Medicare plan in 2027?

By the Kryder Cares data team · Reviewed by Kris Kryder, licensed agent · Last updated

If you live in Lucas or Wood County and do nothing, you are moved into a Medical Mutual of Ohio "MedMutual Advantage Elite" plan on January 1, 2027. The CMS 2027 plan crosswalk lists all 4 Paramount Elite plans sold in both counties in 2026 as renewing with a service area reduction, each with a MedMutual successor plan offered in your county.

This applies to Paramount Elite Medicare Plans members in Lucas and Wood County, Ohio. You keep coverage without a gap, but the plan name, some costs and possibly the network change. You can still pick a different plan during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7, 2026.

How it works: where each Paramount plan goes

CMS labels these "renewal with a service area reduction" because the Paramount contracts no longer cover Lucas and Wood County. Instead of ending your coverage, the CMS crosswalk moves each member into a MedMutual plan that is offered in your county. The numbers are the same in both counties.

What it changes: costs and doctors

Three of the four plans cost more in at least one column for 2027. The Elite Standard plan keeps a $0 premium, but its drug deductible rises $155 and its yearly out-of-pocket limit rises $600. The Preferred PPO keeps the same three numbers.

Premiums are only part of it. A new plan can have a different provider network, drug list and copays, and your Annual Notice of Change (the letter every plan member gets each fall) spells them out. Kris’s answer in her Medicare FAQ about keeping your doctors is “You usually can. It’s important to be sure your doctor accepts Medicare. Some don’t.” With a new plan, the same goes for its network: check each doctor and hospital by name.

If you stay and the new plan does not work out, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, January 1 to March 31, 2027, lets you make one switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or back to Original Medicare.

What to do next

Read your Annual Notice of Change, then bring it with your doctor list and prescriptions to Kris. She checks the MedMutual plan against the other plans she represents in your county. If it still fits, you do nothing. If not, choose another plan by December 7, 2026. Medical Mutual is one of the carriers Kris represents.
