Yes. All 4 MediGold Medicare Advantage plans sold in Lucas County and Wood County in 2026 have no 2027 plan in either county, according to the CMS 2027 plan crosswalk. MediGold coverage there ends December 31, 2026. Choose a new plan by December 7, 2026 and it starts January 1, 2027.
This applies to MediGold members who live in Lucas County (Toledo, Maumee, Sylvania, Oregon) or Wood County (Perrysburg, Bowling Green, Rossford, Northwood). Two plans are terminated; two keep running in other Ohio counties but drop Lucas and Wood. Either way, you are not moved into another plan.
How it works: which MediGold plans are ending
The same four MediGold plans were sold in both counties in 2026. CMS lists each one as either terminated or renewing only in a smaller service area that leaves Lucas and Wood out.
| 2026 plan (ID) | Type | 2026 premium | In Lucas or Wood in 2027? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mount Carmel MediGold Choice (PPO) (H1846-006) | PPO | $0 | No: plan ends (terminated) |
| Mount Carmel MediGold No Premium (HMO) (H3668-020) | HMO | $0 | No: plan ends (terminated) |
| Mount Carmel MediGold Cash Back (HMO) (H3668-030) | HMO | $0 | No: continues only in other counties |
| Mount Carmel MediGold Glory No RX (HMO) (H3668-013) | HMO, no drug coverage | $0 | No: continues only in other counties |

What it changes: your coverage on January 1
If you do nothing, you go back to Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, and you lose the plan’s drug coverage, unless you have Extra Help or Medicaid. Kris’s own answer, from her Medicare FAQ, to whether Original Medicare alone is enough: “Yes. However, you will not have prescription coverage, and you will face unlimited exposure to those costs due to the gaps in Original Medicare.” Glory No RX members never had drug coverage: if you have no VA or other drug coverage either, pick a drug plan now. A gap of 63 days or more without creditable drug coverage (drug coverage at least as good as Medicare’s standard) can add a Part D late enrollment penalty (there are exceptions to this).
If you would rather go back to Original Medicare, a plan leaving your area gives you a guaranteed issue right to buy certain Medigap policies without health questions, as early as 60 days before and no more than 63 days after your Medicare Advantage coverage ends, per the Medicare guide Choosing a Medigap Policy (pages 15 to 18).
Miss December 7 and you still have a Special Enrollment Period from December 8, 2026 to the last day of February 2027, but coverage starts the month after you join. For 2027, Lucas County has 76 Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage and Wood County has 72 (both counts include Special Needs Plans), per the CMS CY2027 landscape.
What to do next
Bring your MediGold card, your doctor and hospital list, and your prescriptions with doses. Kris checks each one against the plans she represents in your county, compares them side by side and helps you enroll before December 7.
